Bringing Special Joy to the Holidays
We all know how much our Scotties contribute to our happiness and good health, and how much we value the many activities that bring us together with our friends and our dogs. The holiday season is a time of happiness, excitement, and anticipation as we count down the days to the gathering of family and friends for celebrations.
But the holidays can also be a time of quiet loneliness and depression for many who have experienced hardships or lost family members, and who are struck with the sense of loss and overwhelming nostalgia for times that have passed.
If there is someone you know who may be struggling when we are all supposed to be happy, make time to visit. Bring some special holiday treats, and if you can, bring your Scottie along to add a special surprise. Many elderly people approach us with our dogs and reminisce about how they grew up with a Scottie, or their parents had a Scottie. They get that far-away look and you know they are seeing and remembering a happy time.
Our Scotties can ring a very special bell of memory and happiness for people who may have not seen such a beautiful dog in years. Does your Scottie have the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title or is your Scottie a Therapy Dog? Then you have a wonderful and unique gift to give this holiday season, by visiting nursing homes or other care facilities with your Scottie.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all, from the STCA Health Trust Fund

Message from new Committee Chair
Members, please check your emails for legislative alerts from AKC and from me. Please take action if you are notified of legislative issues in your State.
Please alert your dog clubs and fellow breeders to help. And one other thing that is very important: All dog people should make every effort to make regular donations to the NAIA (National Animal Interest Alliance) www.naiaonline.org
Encourage your kennel clubs to make annual donations to NAIA and if your state has representation to fight legislation remember to donate after each show. If we do not have the donations and strong support from all breeders, exhibitors, owners, etc., we will surely be gone.
We are at a very crucial turning point. After Amendment 13 was passed in Florida banning Greyhound racing, it opened the floodgates for HSUS and PETA to come after all other events involving animals. People must realize we are out of time! Support and donate regularly to those who are fighting for us. If everyone donated monthly the cost of one entry it could make a huge difference.
PAWS For Juniors
The PAWS network of members has chipped in to have Fortune Teller, a Scottie doll made for the 2019 raffle. We are looking for a few more great additions to the raffle!
The revision of the PAWS portion of the STCA webpage is being written and then approved by the PAWS members, before going to the STCA board. Our goal is to keep info up to date and encouraging the Juniors who show Scotties.
Questions on PAWS programs and grants: Sueannette Maniscalso
it's a wrap..... until we meet in the New Year...
Thank you for all you do for your Scotties!
