Scottish Terrier "Faolin" has starpower in
Many of you met Faolin and Cheryl Fugate last October when we celebrated STCA members' service dogs. Well, Faolin has been quite busy! As a therapy dog, Faolin works one on one with children im his local library helping to boost confidence in young readers.
As a gift for a job well-done, Faolin asked his Facebook friends if they would share their own stories, written from their dogs' viewpoints, for inclusion in a book about his friends. With the help of the children, Cheryl and Faolin put together a book filled with stories, pictures and drawings from friends in the US and around the world: "Faolin's Friends."
The book was so well received the library along with the children want to publish another book for the library's fundraiser.
Recently, Faolin served as a judge for the local Halloween parade, playing Santa Paws. He attended the United Way committee meeting for fundraising. This year he hosts several card making events and will take part in the town's Easter Egg Hunt!
Working hard for our Scotties!
Action steps are underway for outreach, education, visibility and mentorship. We are working strategically to address short and long-term goals for our breed and club. Please remember, everything we do harkens back to the objectives of the Club and the preservation of the purebred Scottish Terrier.
Get ready -- we will have news shortly for regional club educational opportunities and incentives!
Let's be sure to get the word out that this breed is versatile and extraordinary.
Check us out on Twitter (@STCAScotties) and Facebook, at regional club specialties, fun and fundraising events, and in the community. Be welcoming to all interested in the breed! Share your stories and passion for the breed.
