Montgomery week is on the horizon and we are deep into planning events to make time well spent for everyone who comes. This is the time to celebrate as a community of people sharing a common passion, our Scotties. There is information elsewhere in this issue of WrapUp as well as on the STCA website and in the information packet soon to be distributed about all the activities for the week, including several new events. Please make the effort to come and participate, hopefully staying at our host hotel, as we are offering several incentives for so doing.
I hope the warmer weather and longer days find you out working with your Scotties on something. Scotties seem more confident of their status when they have a mission. They were bred to work, so give them something to do. It will provide surprising dividends to you and your Scotties.
The lack of diversity in the Scottie gene pool is approaching the critical stage. It is a problem of considerable significance to the long term survival of the breed as we know it. However, it has not reached the point of no return. As the guardians of the gene pool, it is up to the STCA to define the problem, determine how we got here and provide guidance on how to resolve the problem. This process will be started in the next issue (#3) of The Bagpiper. Please read the material and join in the discussion. It will take many heads to create a program to address this issue.
STCA brings to life its very own online Forum for members! Check it out today.
I am pleased to announce to the STCA membership the start of our very own STCA Forum. It’s a meeting place for members to share information and communications. I am pleased to work with the web team who helped my vision for this type of club communications become a reality. It’s ready for you to sign up and begin using it.
Like all forums, we have started with some general headings. We encourage you to post your topics under those headings. Our goal is to see good conversations on breeding, health, registrations and even some fun stuff. The STCA Forum will also serve as yet another means to get information to you from your Board on topics relating to club announcements, specialty news and volunteer opportunities.
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the etiquette and procedures. Then, be sure to stop in the Introduction Section and let us know you are “here.” I know our members have a wealth of knowledge and this will be a great place to share it!
